BEING A LABANDERA

When I was a kid, I used to envy our house helpers whenever they do the laundry. I used to watch them do it, chat with them while they're doing it and ask them to let me join them. Of course they wouldn't let me, telling me that I'll get dirty and get soaked. So it has been my childhood dream to do that chore, yes...I dreamt of becoming a labandera!

My siblings & I are now living independently, we pay our rent, the bills and we do the household chores all by ourselves. It was my turn this week to do the laundry, I did it last night since my schedule is full from tonight until Sunday. I must admit that it really is a hard chore considering that our washing machine broke down. I did everything manually! My hands really hurt and I had a severe backache. Oh, the dream that I had as a child was not what I imagined it to be. It was not sweet at all, in fact it was such a gruesome tiring task!

I know it is funny in this sense but it made me realize that God really gives us our heart's desires. Even if it took Him long to answer it, He really does answers our wishes in His own perfect time. Imagine if He granted my wish ages ago, by the time I was a teenager I wouldn't even want to wash a single cloth! And my siblings may need more effort to convince me to do this task. So the fact remains that we must trust God, He knows when to give in to our wishes and His timing is always perfect!
